Product Developer



Job Description

In this role as a product developer at BITE you will have the responsibility to develop high end quality products for the womenswear collections in close collaboration with our Creative Director. This responsibility holds from creating the assortment plan in collaboration with our CD through to the sales samples being priced, delivered to the showrooms and ready to go in production.

You will be based at BITE HQ in Stockholm reporting to the Head of Production (Stockholm) and Creative Director (London). The role will have commitments that require travelling on a regular basis to suppliers and to our London Atelier.
The employment is a permanent part time position of 50%, starting as soon as possible. As we interview candidates continuously we kindly ask you to register your application as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

Work together with Creative Director to create and adhere to a commercial but directional category within the mainline, directing this segment’s assortment plan signed off by CEO.
Design and manage the RTW and sub-category collection across all product categories in keeping with overall brand vision & BITE Atelier line.
Responsible for proto development and SMS delivery.
Work with a trusted network of suppliers & manufacturers within Europe.
Oversee implementation of design revisions through development process.
Develop and source new fabrics, materials, processes.

Tasks will include, but not be limited to

-Drawing exact, detailed and accurate garment specs of the final styles to be taken forward to pattern and sample manufacture, including measurements/ chart and specific finishing instructions.
-Building of technical specification sheets/ BOM to handover to digital pattern cutter/ manufacturers.
-Manage development of critical paths from initial design through to finished sample, ensuring prototype deadlines are adhered to.
-Oversee and manage pattern making process.
-Propose fabrications for designs via manufacturer, in line with BITE’s sustainable requirements.
--Manage sample development and making process with manufacturers across Europe, taking responsibility and autonomy for the segment.
-Work across multi-product ranges, including separates, tailoring, dresses and soft accessories.
-Partner with the Head of Production and allocate styles between factories to ensure the highest possible standard of make while achieving target prices in accordance with the collection’s range plan.
-Responsible for comments on the various development samples with an emphasis on fit and finishing from proto stage to pre-production stage.
-Oversee and organize fittings sessions alongside Creative Director and take comments, provide proactive and focused input to ensure further sampling and production processes run smoothly, active in proposing finishings and trims and ensuring the communication flows between the different actors.
-Work closely with Head of Production to ensure all quality and sustainability requirements are achieved.
-Maintain and build relationships with suppliers and communicate on day-to-day operations.
-Manage the costing process and analysis of margins and decide in creating negotiation strategies towards suppliers.
-Responsible for all RTW and sub-category handover to production: provide information and resolve problems that arise during and after the development of the collection.

The Ideal Candidate

Academic degree, from business school and/or textile education.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a RTW product development role preferably from luxury / premium fashion brands.
Strong network and contacts with suppliers and manufacturing facilities in Europe.
Strong understanding of both pattern and construction, measurement charts, tech packs and BOM.
A great addition to the small-knit team, a star team player with a light and positive vibe.
Track record of developing beautiful, commercially successful collections/ product within a design team.
Highly proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
Ability to develop strong relationships both internally and with our suppliers.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through & time management skills.
The ability to take initiative and to prioritize work tasks.
An action oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making.
Highly organized, demonstrates the ability to prioritize, manage and coordinate diverse activities simultaneously whilst also keeping a 360 view of the entire development process and progress.
Agile, adaptable and capable of multi-tasking and coordinating different projects with cross functional teams.
Solution oriented – problem solver, flexible and adaptable, resilient.
Passionate about product with the confidence to fully engage in the process and have an impact.
Strong time management skills- experience of working in fast growth high pace entrepreneurial environments.
